Recent years have seen second-hand shopping or “thrifting” boom. Not only can you find unique items that feel like they were made for you to find, you feel good doing it.

Charity shops are a great way to clear out no-longer-needed clothes, furniture, books, bric-a-brac, etc without having to fill landfills with unnecessary waste. However, charity shops are not waste disposal centres, and you should consider your donated items.

Tip: give your chosen shop a call before you make the journey and ask if they’ll accept your donation. Don’t feel disheartened if they say no, it usually is for a good reason such as health and safety and regulations.
