Initially, you don’t need to pinpoint an exact date. As wedding planning progresses you may need to be flexible when it comes to booking venues, making travel arrangements and so on.
For starters, decide on the month (and year if you want to really give yourself plenty of time) that suits your dream wedding plan. Then, find out whether the most important players at your wedding (parents, siblings, close friends) will be available for the rough date you’ve selected. It’s not always possible to please everyone, but hopefully, your loved ones will be able to set aside the time period you have decided on.
Along with an approximate date must come consideration of where you’d like the wedding to happen. If you want to hold the event far away from home turf once again consultation with your nearest and dearest will be necessary, to ensure that they can make not only the date but also the location you have in mind.
Compromise may be necessary. For example, your aged granny who lives on a state pension in a council estate will probably not be able to afford to travel to Bermuda for your nuptials, so if you want her to celebrate with you, you will either have to fund her trip or hold your wedding at a more accessible location.
As a couple you will have your own unique cluster of dear ones whose presence at your marriage is fundamental to it being a happy occasion, so before you make any firm plans ensure your ideas are realistic enough for those people to achieve.
