Bradford-on-Avon is a small town in west Wiltshire that grew around the ford across the river Avon hence the origin of the town’s name (“Broad-Ford”). The town’s canal, historic buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants make it popular with tourists.
The town is home to the Wiltshire Music Centre offering educational and performing facilities to the county musicians and entertainment for all with a variety of concerts and artists. The centre has a 300 seat auditorium which is said to have ‘the finest acoustic outside London.’
Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire situated on the River Biss, approximately 12 miles southeast of Bath. The Kennet and Avon Canal and the railway run through the town and it is the third largest settlement in Wiltshire after the town of Swindon and the city of Salisbury. Trowbridge is twinned with the towns of Leer in Germany, Charenton-Le-Pont in France, Elblag in eastern Poland and the Moroccan city of Oujda.
