Chippenham is twinned with La Fleche in France and Friedberg in Germany. It is one of the West Country’s most dynamic market towns with a population of over 28,000. The combination of the old and the new, the historic architectural gems, modern shopping centres and nearness to some of the country’s greatest houses and historic villages, makes this town midway between Bath and Swindon an ideal location for living, working and visiting. The town houses the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre if you want to dig deep into the Wiltshire of old.
Originally named Cosseha, there has been a settlement in Corsham since Anglo-Saxon times. Today, Corsham remains a historic market town in northwest Wiltshire. It is at the south western extreme of the Cotswolds, just off the A4 which was formerly the main turnpike road from London to Bristol, between Bath and Chippenham. Corsham is twinned with Jargeau in France. You should be fortunate enough to see the peacocks roaming the town.
