Market Guide: Malmesbury

Historically the main industry in and around the wonderful Wiltshire town of Malmesbury was farming, until the Reformation brought along changes with the introduction of wool weaving and lace-making. Today the main employer in the town is Dyson – the British technology company renowned for its vacuum cleaners. True to its roots, though, Malmesbury still boasts numerous independent retailers along its thriving High Street, and a regular farmers’ and artisan market takes place around the medieval Market Cross.

The Malmesbury Artisan & Farmers’ Market

Malmesbury Artisan & Farmers’ Market offers around a dozen stalls selling local, fresh and organic produce together with artisan food products. It is held around the central Market Cross (SN16 9AS) every Friday from 9am to 3pm.

The Malmesbury Crafts & More Market

Malmesbury Crafts & More Market is a showcase for local artists and crafters. Stalls sell an eclectic mix of items such as candles, mosaics, glassware, pottery and a smattering of vintage wares. The market is held intermittently to an annual schedule in the Old School Room at the Malmesbury Town Hall. Click here for the latest dates.
