Enjoy English Heritage During Summer 2025

In case you weren’t aware, English Heritage is a charity that cares for more than 400 historic sites across England – some internationally famous like the fabled Stonehenge, others more modest local treasures.

During the summer months English Heritage sites are particularly precious, providing memorable events and experiences for visitors, from historical re-enactments to family fun and insightful tours. There’s even a chance for budding archaeologists to get hand’s on at a the Stonehenge Kid’s Dig!

If you’re lucky enough to be in Somerset, Wiltshire or Gloucestershire to enjoy summer 2025, here’s a breakdown of some of the entertaining and enervating events, experiences and attractions English Heritage offers in these counties through July, August and September:

Farleigh Hungerford Castle, near Bath

Gloucester History Festival – Blackfriars Priory, Gloucester

Blackfriars Priory – which belongs to English Heritage, but is managed by the Gloucester City Council – will be a key venue for the Gloucester History Festival between September 13 and 21. Talks, exhibitions, tours and performances related to various fascinating aspects of history will be happening in Gloucester, including Heritage Open Days during which there will be free access to various historic buildings.
