A Guide to Markets in Frome

Frome Markets

The creative Somerset town of Frome is a real modern market town – you’re bound to catch a market going on somewhere (usually in the central Cheese & Grain venue BA11 1BE) most days throughout the year.

There are markets of all sorts, from vintage clothing and furniture to delicious food and arty crafts. The markets are an outlet for Frome’s many local farmers, artisan food producers and crafts people, particularly the gigantic Frome Independent market which is famous far and wide and draws thousands of visitors into the town centre on the first Sunday of the month between March and December.

Weekly Markets:

  • General Markets (food, clothing, pet accessories, plants, tools and a variety of other goods): Wednesday and Saturdays 9am-3pm in the Cattle Market Car Park in front of the Library, and a few stalls at the Market Cross.
  • Frome Antique & Flea Market (quality vintage goods, antiques and collectibles): Wednesdays 9am to 2pm at the Cheese & Grain.
  • Frome Food Hub: Thursday to Monday at the Bennett Centre, Vicarage Street.

Monthly Markets:

  • The Frome Independent takes over the entire town centre as independent traders, food and drink producers, and purveyors of all sorts of arts and crafts and collectibles converge to sell their wares in a crowded, festive atmosphere: First Sunday of every month from March to December, 10am to 3pm.
  • Frome Farmers’ Market (local vegetables, meat, cheese, artisan bread and more): Second Saturday of every month.
  • The Magpie Market (vintage items, jewellery, gifts and handmade items): first Sunday of every month between March and December, 10am to 3pm at the Cheese & Grain.
  • Car Boot Sale (anything goes!): Last Sunday of the month in the Cattle Market Car Park.

In addition to the abovementioned regular markets Frome has many other unique one-off markets during the year, some of these having become scheduled annual events like a Chocolate Festival, Vintage Bazaar, Vinyl Record Fair and Celebrate Southern Africa market.

Special Markets:

  • The Chocolate Festival: Sunday 12th November, 10am – 3pm at the Cheese and Grain.
  • The Frome Vegan Fair: Sunday 26th November, 10am – 3pm at Market Yard
  • The Vintage Bazaar: 28th October, 9am – 2pm at the Cheese and Grain
